Google announced yesterday, and it is finally now rolled out to searchers, that the new Google Finance is live.

We knew it was coming because Google warned us that the portfolio feature is going away and it did. Google said "we're retiring a few features of the original Google Finance, including the portfolio, the ability to download your portfolio, and historical tables." As you can imagine, this is really upsetting some old timers who loved the original Google Finance.

The ongoing Google Web Search Help thread has these comments from users:

I just want to let you know Google Finance was the best free finance tool I have ever used.

I found I was updated to the new product this morning and it was enormously disappointing. All the ratios, scan function, trends function, sector summary etc. were gone!!! They were core functions!!!!!

Now there are only a few financial data and news left. In terms of financial data I uses 8-k, 10-k from SEC, and Google NEWS search for news. There is no reason for the new Google Finance existence.

Maybe updating the ratio was a burden, but you should find a way to make a fortune out of it, not getting rid of the functions!!!

Anyone else agrees with me???

Please BRING back the old Google Finance!

This new finance sucks so much. When Google first came with products what had an extreme simple user friendly and fast design it took over the world in rapid pace. The team of monkeis working around the clock nowadays however have totally missed the point what people want, so Ill spell it out for the geniuses.... it should be SIMPLE and FAST with a good OVERVIEW. Keep the bells and whistles to yourselves, noone wants them. I guess Yahoo will get a new user in me.

I cannot understand why Google would take away most of the features that made the old Google Finance so user friendly and convenient to use. The portfolio feature was only a small part of what was lost. With the old system I could look up a company and it was instantly added to a nice, compact list that I could follow the the price movement allowing to act very quickly to market movements. This is gone. When I looked up a company with the old system I had a listed of related companies that could be used as a benchmark to judge the size and health of business in relationship to their competitors. This also is gone. For anyone that was an active trader and used Google as their main platform like myself it is very disappointing to wake up and find the platform you relied on for years became basically useless overnight.

The complaints are growing and growing - but that happens with any major redesign Google pushes out.

Now under a new search navigation tab called “Finance,” you’ll have easier access to finance information based on your interests, keeping you in the know about the latest market news and helping you get in-depth insights about companies. On this page, you can see performance information about stocks you've chosen to follow, recommendations on other stocks to follow based on your interests, related news, market indices, and currencies.

You can find this new experience by clicking "more" after conducting a search on Google for finance-related information or "Market summary" in the finance section of Search. For those who visit google.com/finance, you’ll see this new experience as well.

Here is a GIF of the new version in action:
