Patrick Stox

This is part of the say something nice about an SEO/SEM series - feel free to nominate someone over here.

Patrick Stox is 34 years old and lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with his wife Xatli. When you think of Patrick, I think highly technical SEO that has to deal with all the red-tape of a huge old enterprise named IBM. Patrick is really wicked smart when it comes to the more technical aspects of SEO. He has to be when dealing with the mammoth of content on the IBM properties.

Even though he has worked at IBM for a few years and has some extreme SEO knowledge, he is extremely friendly and approachable. He is always smiling, always eager to share his knowledge and always ready to give a talk or write an article on a more advanced topic without hesitation.

He writes a ton at Search Engine Land as a contributor, shares a ton on Twitter and speaks at many of the industry events. He always has new and useful information to share. Patrick is one of my favorite speakers on the circuit for those topics.

Paul Shaprio, another technical SEO, nominated Patrick and wrote:

Not only is Patrick one of the most knowledgeable individuals in the SEO industry, especially when it comes to technical SEO, and it's evident that that sharing that knowledge and helping others makes him so incredibly happy. That's the sort of behavior that enables our industry flourish to greater heights and it's admirable. I've gotten to know Patrick well over the last couple of years as a friend and peer, and it's been spectacular.

Patrick Stox Bio: Patrick Stox is a technical SEO for IBM. He's an organizer for the Raleigh SEO Meetup (the most successful SEO Meetup in the US) and also the Beer and SEO Meetup. He writes a monthly column for Search Engine Land and speaks at search conferences. Patrick was a judge for a 2017 US Search Awards, 2017 UK Search Awards, and 2018 Interactive Marketing Awards.

Favorite thing about the SEO community? Everyone is friendly and passionate. People are constantly learning and sharing; trying to make themselves and others better.

One piece of advice to the SEOs out there? Never lose your drive. Keep learning, keep reading, keep trying things. Work smart and work hard and you will be successful.

Favorite things in general? My wife Xatli, SEO, good food, craft beer, tennis.

What you want to be known for in the SEO space? I think I'm already known as a technical SEO. I enjoy solving the really hard and weird problems. I like sharing and always try to bring something new or different in any speech or article. I still have a lot to share and I really want to help people learn something, do something, or fix something.
