Google's culture is pretty funny, the engineers there love messing with each other. Here is one recent example of Paul Cowan buying a t-shirt that says "Updog by Google" with the sole intention is to get Googlers to ask him, "What is Updog?" Here he replies to them, "Not much. What's up with you?"
There is currently no such thing as Updog at Google. But I wouldn't be surprised if someone makes a new project called "Updog" just to get back at Paul.

Paul posted it on Google+ and got a sucker to fall for it. Paul said, "no matter how highly-paid an engineer is, they're still a sucker for a nice bit of swag."
