About 10 years ago, my favorite web analytics company, Urchin, was acquired by Google. I was blown away by the news because I lived by the tool and I've grown to love the team behind Urchin. This past week, the part of the original Urchin team under Brett Crosby's leadership, reunited at Google to celebrate ten years after Google acquired them.
I think, for the most part, this Google acquisition was a great one for both companies. Google renamed it to Google Analytics and now it powers the analytics - for free - for most sites on the web.
Brett posted pictures of this reunion on Facebook, the picture above is of some of those original Urchin team members. I doubt any are still at Google, but as Brett said Google has definitely invested big time into the product.
Part of the original Urchin crew reunited at Google yesterday to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of being acquired and creating Google Analytics... Which now has its own building!
Amazing - it has been 10 years! Congrats again to the Urchin crew - must be wild looking back!
