Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.

Search Engine Roundtable Stories:

  • Why Moz Didn't Publish On The March 2019 Google Core Update
Most of the data toolsets published some analysis around the March 2019 Google core update that took place on March 12th but not Moz. Want to know why? Well both Dr. Pete Meyers and Russ Jones from Moz shared why on Twitter after being called out for not sharing data around the update.
  • Google's Ranking Algorithm Allows SEOs To Be Unique
Google's John Mueller responded to a Reddit thread where the webmaster didn't understand why a competitor of his was outranking his site when the competitor had a page speed score of F. John Mueller responded saying "The nice part about using so many factors for crawling, indexing, and ranking is that you don't have to do everything exactly the same way as all of the other sites are doing."
  • Google To Close Old Search Console By Years End?
Google's John Mueller hosted a 100 or so person pre-SMX Munich talk with SEOs and developers the other day. Valentin Pletzer was there and he shared on Twitter that John Mueller said they do plan on closing down the old Search Console, it might be by the end of this year he said.
  • Google Knows When Its New Web Rendering Engine Will Be Released But Won't Say
For a long time now, Google has been teasing that they are working on closing the gap between how Chrome renders pages and how GoogleBot renders pages. The web rendering engine Google uses for crawling the web is going to get a lot more advanced but Google won't say when.
  • Google Ads Grants Program Celebrates 16 Years
Google announced in the Google Ad forums yesterday that the Google Ad Grants program has celebrated their 16th birthday - they've been in operations for 16 years. Over those years, Google has given over $9 billion in free advertising to over 115,000 nonprofits in 50 plus countries.
  • Google Paint Club
Here is a photo of a bunch of Googlers on the rooftop of the Google Dublin office after their Google paint club finished painting the view. I know it was from the Google Dublin area but I am not sure
