Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.
Search Engine Roundtable Stories:
- Google June 2019 Core Update Finished Rolling Out Saturday, June 8th
Danny Sullivan from Google informed me on Twitter that the June 2019 core update that started to roll out on Monday afternoon, June 3rd, has finished rolling out on Saturday, June 8th. So the process took about five-days to fully roll out, which seems pretty quick to me. - Google Local Pack Finder Tests Choose Area Feature
Google is testing an option to let the searcher select which area they want the local pack finder results to zone into. Valentin Pletzer shared screen shots on Twitter of Google asking him to "Choose Area" at the top right, which brings up a numerous cities/towns in the area that he was able to choose from and select. - Google Search Console API Doesn't Return Sitemaps Indexed Counts
As part of Google deprecating the old Google Search Console APIs, Google won't be supporting showing the indexed count within the sitemaps commands. Google's John Mueller confirmed this on Twitter. - Google Search Console Discover & Search Overview Expands To 90-Days
Google updates the Search Console performance overview report to show a full 90-days of data for the search results and discover bars. Previously Google showed 28-days of data and now Google is showing 90-days of data for this overview dashboard. - Google Webmaster Conference Officially Launches
We knew this was coming and now Google officially launched the Google Webmaster Conference. The goal of this conference series is to bring top level webmaster related content, i.e. SEO, development, and other ways to make your site perform better in search, directly from Googlers to areas of the world that might not be able to have their own events or travel to events. - The Google Rainbow Staircases
We've seen this before but here is a better view of the rainbow staircases at the Google offices. This one is in the Dublin office, Google's European headquarters. Looks so colorful.
