Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.
Search Engine Roundtable Stories:
- Google Mostly Fixed The Recipe Rich Results Bug
Back in April we reported about issues with recipe rich results in Google. This was an issue that recipe sites started to lose their rich results and cards in masses. Well, back on June 28th, 2+ months after the issue, Google seems to have mostly fixed the problem. - Google: Not Having Discover Section In Google Search Console Is Not A Quality Judgement
Google added a discover report to Google Search Console back in April. But the only way for you to see that report, as we said back then, was to have enough data (impressions/clicks) within the Google Discover feed for Google to report it within Search Console. But not having that Discover tab in Search Console is not a sign that your site is not trusted by Google. - The Google Unconfirmed July Search Ranking Algorithm Update Is Heated
Google has yet to confirm the July 11/12 search ranking update that we reported on, but it does seem to have some legs. Meaning, the chatter has 100% spiked up a lot after the weekend and it seems to be related to a core update. But again, Google has not confirmed this update. - Local SEOs Say Google My Business Suspension Issues Not Fixed
The other day we reported that the Google My Business issues were reportedly fixed according to Google. Well, many local SEOs and businesses are saying this is not true. - Google's John Mueller: ~2/3rds Of What He Says It Taken Out Of Context
As you know, John Mueller from Google gets quoted a lot, quoted a heck of a lot here. Jason Barnard published a podcast interview with John where John said that he estimates about two-thirds of what he says and what gets quotes of what he says is taken out of context. - Scary Looking Google Food
I found this photo of some scary looking fruit and vegetables at the Google lunch room. The photo was on Instagram and honestly, it is scary.
