Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.
Search Engine Roundtable Stories:
- Google Algorithms Cannot Judge The Realness Of An Author Name?
With all the E-A-T discussion, a lot of SEOs are into building up the authority of the authors that write on their sites. But what if your authors don't want their names out there? Asaf Bernstein asked John Mueller of Google about using the authors real name versus a pseudonym and John said "I doubt Google's algorithms would judge the "real-ness" of author names that you use." - Rand Fishkin's Mention In Congressional Hearing On Google
Congressman David N. Cicilline questioned Google on the Google's mission on getting people to go off of the search results page and on to a different site as quickly as possible. He then referenced a study Rand Fishkin published on SparkToro... - Google Shopping Box Displays Shops & Details Button
Claire Carlile posted on Twitter a screen shot of Google showing a shopping box but one that has buttons for more details about the item and a button to look up shops that sell the item. I think that terminology is new, but I do not cover Google Shopping and Ads closely, I think this is an ad, right? - Google May Ask Searchers To Submit Missing Knowledge Panel Data
Brian Freiesleben spotted Google possibly testing a new knowledge panel feature. The feature asks the searcher to enter in missing fact data it doesn't seem to have access to. Google asked "help others by suggesting these missing facts" and had a button for the specific missing fact. - Google Shows Product Labels On Images Within Web Search Results
Google in 2018 launched the product label for e-commerce sites using product schema in their image search results. But now, some are seeing these product tags in the web search results where Google includes an image carousel. - Backstage At Mozcon
Mozcon is a big show, it is keynote style talks all day, one speaker per session, no choices, you just sit back and listen to who is speaking. The production is pretty impressive and here is a photo
