Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.
Search Engine Roundtable Stories:
- Hey Google: We Still Want An Automated Action Viewer In Search Console
For years, I've been suggesting along with the SEO community that Google think about how to design an automated action viewer in Google Search Console. A report that shows which algorithms, Panda, Penguin, interstitial, page speed, core search, etc has impacted a specific site or page. Google thought about it but it ended up never happening and probably will never happen. But we still do want it. - Google Search Console URL Inspection Tool Shows More Recent Data Than Indexing Reports
Google's John Mueller said on Twitter that the URL inspector tool that launched about a month ago shows more recent and up-to-date information that the Google Search Console indexing reports. The indexing reports can be one to two weeks delayed, while the URL inspector tool shows information from the last time the URL was indexed. - Google Analytics Access Will Auto Verify You In Google Search Console
Google announced that they will now begin automatically verifying some users in Google Search Console, which will open up access to Google Search Console to countless (I don't even know the figure, hundreds of thousands, millions?) of webmasters, site owners and more. In short, if you are a verified owner of a Google Analytics property, Google will automatically verify you for that same website in Search Console. - Possible Bug With Google Search Console Performance Report Query Filter
There seems to be a lot of complaints in the past day around the Google Search Console performance report, when the query filter is used on that report. Many are saying when used, the report shows a huge drop in impressions and clicks starting on August 18th. - Google Tests Another Image Search Results Design With Overlay Preview
Google is testing another version of the image search preview window, this one is an overlay that hovers over the image search results after you click on the image. Earlier this week, we saw Google test place this image search preview on the right side of the search results. - Liquid Marijuana Shots At Google
Here is a photo I found on Instagram taken while in the GooglePlex of what this person is calling liquid marijuana shots. He did put a disclaimer that this drink "contains no actual marijuana."
