Alyeda Solis posted a Twitter poll that received almost 1,000 votes that showed that many SEOs are still pretty focused on the desktop analysis of their web pages. So while Google is taking a mobile-first approach, SEOs still seem to spend a considerable amount of effort on desktop.
The poll asked "SEOs: How have you switched your SEO analysis/research/audit/validation/monitoring activities with Google’s mobile first index? Eg: Doing keyword research, technical audits, rankings follow-up, etc."
The results were that 52% said they focus on both desktop & mobile equally, then 20% said their primary focus is on desktop with mobile being secondary. After that was 16% saying they focus on mobile only and actually 12% said they only focus on desktop.

Are you surprised by these results? I am not sure I am - I mean, I am surprised 117 SEOs said they focus only on desktop analysis - that just seems like a bad idea. But outside of that, I am not too surprised.
