Tiffany DaSilva

This is part of the say something nice about an SEO/SEM series - feel free to nominate someone over here.

Tiffany DaSilva, is 34 years old, lives in Toronto, Canada but was born and raised in New Hampshire. From the onset I can tell why Tiffany is such a special person, she told me that she pretty much credits her parents with the reason for her success. She told me:

People always ask me how I started doing SEO so young (I was 9 years old when I started optimizing websites.. on yahoo at the time) They wonder what my parents did or how they raised me to be interested in those things. I think the best thing about my parents is they let me be me. I was curious. I liked to explore and they allowed me the freedom to do that. They didn't try to control the things I liked (even if it was the 90s and NO ONE liked the internet), and they were always supportive of it.

How is that for respect.

She speaks at industry events, she shares a tremendous amount of knowledge on social and she contributes content to the industry on a regular basis. She is very active on social media, sharing tidbits with her colleagues. Even more important, she is always looking to help a friend or colleague do better, be recognized and be in a position themselves to help others.

Marc Nashaat nominated Tiffany and wrote:

Tiffany is one of the most selfless, and humble SEOs I know. She constantly goes out of her way to help and promote her peers. When I first started freelancing she reached out and connected me with a client that would go on to become my first solo retainer. Myself and many others admire her for her kick-ass CRO skills and good-hearted nature. We need more Tiffany's in the industry!

Favorite thing about the SEO community? When I started in the SEO community over a decade ago, it was a bit of an exclusive club that you felt like you really had to work at to be included. This has changed dramatically over the years. I've found the community to be much more open and transparent and willing to share wins and loses with others. I've seen so many more groups (whether it's in real life or on slack) who are filled with digital marketing specialists new and old sharing their thoughts on new changes, and strategies. It makes me really excited.

One piece of advice to the SEOs out there? Never stop learning, because SEO never stops teaching. Whether you take on development to learn a bit more about how SEO works behind the scenes, or PPC to understand how organic and paid work together - there are so many opportunities to learn not only within SEO and it's latest developments (schema, mobile etc.) but also beyond to other disciplines.

Favorite things in general? My favorite day would include a trip to my favorite place (Bali) eating my favorite food (mexican) at my favorite time (brunch) with my favorite drink (bourbon - basil hayden preferred) in my gray sweatshirt (my favorite color & article of clothing) surrounded with my favorite people (Family, friends + my dog Zooey).

What you want to be known for in the SEO space? I want to be known for my ability to link SEO with all aspects of a digital marketing strategy. I want to be seen as a a full stack marketer. I truly believe that SEO doesn't work in a silo, which is why I've always tried to learn as much as I could about SEO, pay per click advertising, conversion rate optimization and social media marketing. I think when they are working together well and in a thoughtful way, they will give a user an experience that you're everywhere... in a good way.

You can learn more about Tiffany at her personal site, connect with her on LinkedIn and follow her on Twitter. She also wants you to check out her growth hacking box coming soon at flowjo.co.
