I hope you like the new introduction style, it gives you a quick preview of the topics I am going to cover before I get into it, let me know in the comments and subscribe and smash that like button. :) I covered chatter and signs around a Google search algorithm update today, on Friday the 13th. I talked about the search quality rater guidelines document update on September 5th. I also covered how Google said they pushed out an algorithm update a few months ago to promote original reporting. On algorithm updates, Bright Local released Local RankFlux, a tool to track local ranking changes in Google. Google changed how they handle the nofollow link attribute and added two more link attributes, one rel sponsored and the other is rel ugc. They also treat the nofollow meta robots as a hint. WordPress will adopt the new rel ugc link attribute soon. Bing always treated the nofollow link attribute as a hint, never as a directive. Google seems to be penalizing subdomain leasing more. Google said it cannot determine if content is accurate. Google finally responded to them buying links on Apache.org, you might be disappointed in the response. Google finally killed off the old Google Search Console. Google said headings won’t make or break your rankings. Google Ads pushed off the sunsetting of the accelerated delivery option. Google Ads banned speculative and experimental medical treated from advertising. Google Discover can now show local restaurants. Check out my vlog interview with Mel Carson who worked at LookSmart, Microsoft Advertising and now has his own agency. Don’t’ forget to participate and tell people about my YouTube subscriber contest, it is big. That was this past week in search at the Search Engine Roundtable.
