Google Listening Algo Update

In this mornings hangout with Google's John Mueller, one web site owner who lost 60% of his traffic over a Google search algorithm update several months ago asked John what he should do. The interesting thing, John did bring his detailed examples to the search engineers and had to tell this guy that after reviewing the examples, the engineers felt things were working as normal.

That is obviously gut wrenching for a site that has to do payroll and lost 60% of their organic traffic. So he goes on to ask for advice, what to do next, what can they change. It is pretty interesting, somewhat sad and upsetting, to watch.

This part of the conversation starts at 3:51 or so and lasts for 11 or 12 minutes.

Here is the embed:

It is really nice to see evidence that John Mueller brought back specific examples to the search engineers, discussing it with these engineers in detail and then bringing that information back to the webmaster/site owner and the community. But of course, it is not what that person wanted to hear.
