Wix, the popular low cost web site builder tool, seems to be having issues with their web sites being indexed in Google. It seems like many web sites powered by Wix have recently been dropping out of the Google index.
There are dozens of threads in the Google Webmaster Help forums talking about this. Some date back as far as two weeks ago.
Google's John Mueller chimed in about it this morning saying Google has investigated the issue and they are working on resolving it on the Google end. He said:
We took an in-depth look at the setup on these sites, and we're working on resolving things here on our side in the meantime. Sorry for the hassles that this has caused in the meantime. One thing that you might notice is that we'll be recrawling these sites a bit faster to get the dropped pages back into the index a bit faster.
So it seems like Wix webmasters do not need to do anything but be patient and wait for the reindexing to start.
Eric Kuan from Google also chimed in, in one of the threads explaining "It seems that your issue is a related issue with many other Wix users."
So if you are a Wix user and you saw a drop in index counts in your Google Search Console, a drop in traffic from Google Search and/or your web site no longer coming up for specific queries - you are not alone.
Google is working on fixing it and seems like they are already reprocessing the web sites.
